If you have debt problems, then perhaps the best thing you can do for yourself is find a verifiaby reputable company that offers FREE CREDIT COUNSELING.
So Why is ths a good idea? Because a Credit counseling professional has the best understanding of debt relief possibilities. A credit counselor is someone who is very different than the usual enrollment agent who works at a debt relief company, whether it is a non-profit or a Debt Settlement company. How so you ask? E.g. When you call a debt settlement company, you will most likely speak to a person who is a salesperson, and has been trained to enroll people into their program. Now, Even if the program is a good one, if the person does not have specialized knowledge in all areas of credit counseling, they cannot advise you on any other type of debt relief which may be more suitable for your situation. That includes, speaking with bankruptcy attorny's.
This could be a problem because you are not getting a full picture from a professional during the free credit counseling session. The idea is to speak to someone able to fully understand your problem and how a solution applies to your debt situation. Suppose, for example, you wish to file a bankruptcy, because you may know someone who said it was what you needed to do. So, you consult a bankruptcy attorney. He tells you that you can't file a bankruptcy. Unfortunately, he will not tell you that you have other options, because that is not his job, and it will cost him income, if you do not file the bankruptcy. You might, in that case be much better off doing debt settlements. Perhaps, even a credit card consolidation program, in which you would be simply consilidationg all your debt, and getting better terms from your creditors. But, how will you even know if these options are suitable for you, unless you speak to someone with a thorough knowledge of them.
In summation, you need to improve your chances of success in terms of achieving debt refief, by making sure that you first, find a solution that is appropriate for you. because not all debt problems are alike.
